We have just returned from mainland spain and the programme re-distributors using MMDS microwave technology are offering as well as the usual BBC/ITV programmes RTE1 and RTE2 supposedly “rights paid”?
In Scotland we would have to buy an
Irish registered sky card at a premium price from a grey provider and pay sky fees on top to get the Irish stations.
I use RTE radio and every other day you hear comments about BBC and ITV programmes that had been watched on the previous night in Ireland. Should RTE not reciprocate? Tyey say there are issues with programme licensing but surely if the British providers they could also.
I see they are talking about launching RTE International which would offer a diluted mix of RTE programmes but that would not be quite the same as having their normal output. Any comments.
